Alton Wines

Naming, Brand Story, Packaging & Marketing Copy

Joe and Ashley came to us at the start of their journey. They were making the jump from city life to small town wine scene, breaking ground on an entirely new structure located on working farmland. Their dream winery needed a name and everything that comes next—an elegant identity that would feel at home in Walla Walla, Washington, without adhering to the standards of luxury set by previous generations.

The Story

A place to gather.

“Alton is a daily celebration of the hard work and hustle that goes into making wine. That’s why you won’t find any rehearsed stories or complicated tasting notes at our table. You’ll find us. Doors open, grill going, bottle in hand.”

“Whether you’re a certified wine geek or just like the sound a cork makes, we invite you to visit us and share some of our passion for what grapes become—a drink for real people, real meals and real life.”

The Values

True to the farm.

Wine comes from grapes. Grapes come from farmers. As winemakers, we invest in their stories as much as their fruit.

Real about wine.

We can talk shop, but we also know when to break everything down on a basic level, no dictionary or decoder required.

Classic meets epic.

Inspired by luxury restaurants, heritage farms and craft breweries, even the simplest pleasures become sought after.

All tastes welcome.

Our portfolio invites everyone to find what they like—with distinct flavors and textures and a focus on how it all comes together.

The Labels

The team planned two tiers of wine: core and reserve. We wrapped them in understated labels that strip away embellishment to let each wine tell its own story.

Front labels feature a strong brand impression with dedicated space for product information—including varietal, source and pick date—as well as brand story. Back labels incorporate legal requirements and the food pairings that Joe and Ashley take as seriously as the wine.

The Annual Share

The final piece included an additional round of naming and messaging for the Alton wine club, inspired by the farms where all wine gets its start.
